Course Aim: This course provides you with the necessary training for the Telstra contractor accreditation in I&M ( Installation and Maintenance) .You require this accreditation to work as an accredited Telstra contractor to install and maintain Telstra network from the Exchange MDF to the Customer’s premises for plain old telephone services. | Course Objectives: By the end of the course you will be able undertake the following activities:
-Cross connection of the allocated LI/Main/Branch/Distribution pair at the Local Exchange, Cabinet, Pillar or Cross connect joint.
-Testing, Identification and Connection of the allocated pair provided no greater than three PVC or HSJ Joints were involved. (Not In Line Joints)
-The installation of Utilux 2/5 pair joints as required.
-Basic Fault Localisation and repair would be permitted and limited to the use of a Lines Test Set No2 and FAST. Repair would be limited to the replacement of faulty connectors using make before break connectors on joints not exceeding 30 pair in size.
-The installation of ALIC from the network connection point to the wall box at the building entry point.( Or the ALIC box if replacing a faulty lead in)
-The installation of underground lead in cable from the network connection point to the wall box at the building entry point.(Existing conduit only)
-The provisioning of cable from the wall box at the building entry point to the carriers network boundary.
-The cabling and provision of additional TO’s at residential and small business establishments not serviced by an MDF. & The accurate compilation of fee for service documents.
-The provisioning /connection of Customers equipment.
-The installation of standard customers lightning protection in urban areas when stipulated.(Telstra/ACA Guidelines apply)
-Advising Customers of the operation of equipment supplied

General Conditions

- Dress code: Courses are conducted in a simulated work environment; therefore students must be attired appropriately. Closed shoes/boots only. No sandals or thongs. Students wearing sandals or thongs will not be allowed into the course.
- Students arriving late will not be allowed into class.
- You are not booked into a course until you receive confirmation from Milcom
