Course Objectives: By the end of the course, the student will be able to:
1. Explain what is the Occupational Health and Safety Act
2. Explain what are Hazards
3. Explain the use of Safety clothing and equipment
4. Demonstrate Emergency First Aid
5. Explain Manual Handling techniques
6. Explain the safe use of Ladders and hoists
7. List techniques used in fire control and protection
8. Undertake a Workplace Hazards Assessment
9. Identify voltage of aerial circuits (LV and HV)
10. Identify the conditions of poles (condemned, suspect, etc)
11. Identify limits of safe working for contractors on a telecommunications network (i.e. at a communications height on poles)
12. Identify hazards or potential hazards working in proximity to electrical distribution network
13. List what is Permissible work – and permissible work heights ( or separations) on poles for communications roll out
14. List what is Not Permissible work – and not permissible heights (and how to determine these when working at a communications height on a pole or from the ground)
15. Identify voltage of aerial circuits (LV and HV)
Course Duration: 3 days
Course Fee: Milcom Fee: $490.00 Optional - Deposit of $132.00 then 4 monthly payments of $99.00
Pre-requisites for other providers may include CIGIT card and Traffic Control which would extend the course to 5 days.

General Conditions
Cancellation of booking less than 14 days prior to commencement of the course will attract a 50% administration charge.
No refunds will be payable after course commencement.
Milcom reserves the right to cancel, postpone or vary course dates or venues.
Milcom reserves the right to allow delegates a “once only” transfer between courses, venues or dates. Further transfers will incur an administration fee. Contact the office for fee information.
Dress code: Courses are conducted in a simulated work environment; therefore students must be attired appropriately. Closed shoes/boots only. No sandals or thongs. Students wearing sandals or thongs will not be allowed into the course.
Students arriving late will not be allowed into class.
